Our Director Alex Martin was interviewed on Triple M about the case against Nirvana over the cover art on their iconic album Nevermind. The argument is that the picture of the naked baby in a swimming pool is pornographic and exploitative. If that is the case, everyone with a copy of the album on their shelf is in possession of pornographic material!
The parents of the baby consented to the image being taken back in 1991 and were paid a small fee.
The case was struck out on procedural grounds but has just been refiled. So it is back on. What do you think? Is the image inappropriate? Should the person on the cover be entitled to compensation?
